More Simplified Poker

For people who are "new" to poker than first-timers are (new to gambling as well), here's a beginner's guide to basic poker, made really simple.

Poker is a card game. It can be played with any regular playing card. Poker is played by estimating who among the poker players holds the best poker cards or hand. Bets are placed basing on such hand. Some may think it's player A, and some may think it's player B, and so on. The bets are raised until a showdown ensues (the cards are revealed) and the best hand wins.

Or, the poker game continues by the players raising the bets higher until the poker players give up on raising the bets because they feel they have a losing hand, or there isn't enough chips left for making more bets. That is, except one player one who manages to make more bets. Without revealing anyone's cards, the last man out wins the bets or "pot" simply because that last man remains able to bet more and the rest have given up. When the winner has taken the pot and everyone reveals their cards, it may turn out that the winner's hand actually was not that good. The winner has successfully "bluffed" everyone out of the poker game.

Many says about 60 percent of poker is bluffing, 35 percent is strategy and technique, and 5 percent is---being dealt the right cards. Some maintains that bluffing is 35 and strategy is 60. Bluffing is when a poker player pretends to be either winning or losing. Sometimes, bluffing is showing an expressionless face.

Orthodox or conventional or traditional poker recognizes the use of all 5 cards to effect a poker win. No matter if the cards dealt are more than 5, a poker win must involve 5 cards.

Here are some poker win examples: a poker straight flush has 5 cards all in one suit (hearts, spades, flowers, or diamonds) and the cards should be in a sequence and using an ace. An example is 5 cards of ace, king, queen, jack, and a ten, all with a spades suit. A poker four of a kind is 5 cards, four of which are of the same rank (like, 5,5,5,5), in various suits, with any one card as an "idler." Example, 5,5,5,5, 8. Eight is the idler.

With the basic poker rules well understood, a little practice more and one is on the way to learning more about poker tactics, strategies, and more on bluffing.
